February 10, 1957 - November 20, 2021
"Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take." Since her children were young, Lorraine Renee Johnson ended most days with this bedtime prayer. On November 20, 2021, at the age of 64, Lorraine’s soul was reunited with loved ones that passed before her after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Lorraine was born on February 10, 1957 in Sacramento, CA. Shortly after, she and her mother relocated to the midwest. Lorraine was a 1975 graduate of Millard High School in Omaha, NE, and later in life went onto Dana College to earn a Bachelor’s degree in teaching. In 2019, she retired after working 22 years at Omaha Public Schools in a behavior-disordered classroom where she made a lifelong impact on countless students’ lives. In her free time, she loved a good concert, camping, thrifting, gardening, and raising tortoises. In her wilder days, she was known for capsizing sailboats, doing jet ski stunts, challenging anyone who looked in her direction at a stoplight to a race, and learning to ride a motorcycle in her 50s. She will be greatly missed by her mother Brucelyn Orth, children Jesse (Allison) Temple, Erika (Brent) Morral, and Katie Robinson; grandchildren John Temple, Reid, Claire, and Brynn Morral; brothers Robert and Richard (Lisa) Orth, sister Angelina Owen, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held on Thursday, December 2nd at 10:30 AM at Braman Mortuary Southwest Chapel (6505 S. 144th Street Omaha, NE) with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Scatter Joy Acres in Omaha, NE (https://scatterjoyacres.org/).
