"A.J." - Zara Nocona Rose Sobansky

AJ (Zara) Sobansky was born May 12, 2008 in Omaha, NE to parents Erin and Cody Sobansky. 

AJ entered this world bringing pure joy to every life she touched. AJ was always quick with a smile and a hug, spreading love every where she went. She brightened countless lives during her short 17 years and was taken from us far too soon. 

On Friday, June 6, 2025 she was killed in an act of violence that has left family, friends and the community in shock. She had just finished her sophomore year at Millard North High School.

AJ was smart, talented, and completely herself. She was active in show choir, forensics, poetry, and theater - most recently performing in Mean Girls. Whether on stage or just with her friends, AJ brought joy, honesty, and heart to everything she did.

We miss her so much and will for the rest of our lives.

AJ was preceded in death by Grandma Ginger Lima and Grandpa Paul Sobansky. AJ is survived by her parents Erin and Cody Sobansky, siblings Zoren, Zehla and Ziggy; Grandma Robin Sobansky, Grandpa Tom Lima; Uncle Matt (Anne) Sobansky, Uncle Eric (Mindy) Lima, Aunt Elise (Eric) Lima Picht, Uncle Evan (Mel) Lima; Cousins Claire, Henry, Paul, Mabel, Lucy, Myia, Hunter, and Mira. As well as many extended family and friends who care and loved AJ so deeply.

Private Services were held

In lieu of flowers, memorials given to the family will be used in A.J.'s memory at a later date.
