Henry C. Kelly, December 28, 1933 ~ June 1, 2025
Henry Kelly was born in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland on December 28, 1933 to James and Catherine Kelly. He grew up on Rock Street in Tralee and attended the Christian Brothers School. At the age of 25 he came to the United States. After living in New York for a short period Henry moved to Omaha where he had family. He met his future wife Joan Sheehan through a mutual friend who owned a gas station. Henry and Joan were wed on June 17, 1961 at St. Theresa’s in Omaha. Henry was a devoted husband, father of 7 children, 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He found employment with Metropolitan Utilities District where he started as a dump truck driver and retired as the Foreman of the Stores Department after 36 years. Henry and Joan loved to spend time with their kids and grandkids. They enjoyed traveling, shopping, working in their rose garden, going out to eat and attending Mass together. Henry was a lover of Creighton Basketball, Notre Dame Football, Irish music, Western movies, Cars – especially Fords, a good cup of tea, steak and baked potatoes. He was always willing to help his kids and neighbors with projects at their homes. His giving nature, laughter and love for his family will be missed.
Henry is preceded in death by his wife Joan, parents James and Catherine, sisters Josie Kissane and Mary O’Flynn, brother James Kelly.
He is survived by children Cathy (Neal) Stepanek, Sheila (Mike) Schartz, Mary (Randy Johnson) Kelly-Johnson, Joan (Pat) Wonder, John (Jenny) Kelly, Kevin (Molly) Kelly and Bill (Mendi) Kelly. Grandchildren: Sean, Sara, Anne, Brendan, Connor, Erin, Andrew, Megan, Katie, Nick, Felix, Willa, Bailey, Nash, Sydney, Wyatt, Evie and Brigid. Great Grandchildren: Rowan, Emmett, Emma, Delaney and baby Phelps due in December. Many nieces, nephews and friends.
