Karen Malloy was born on May 16, 1946 in San Francisco California to Ed and Helen Morton. As Ed was a sailor in the US Navy she lived in many different cities growing up. Karen returned to Omaha, where she lived with her grandparents while Ed finished his Naval career. Karen graduated from Benson High School in 1964. After graduating high school she attended Ozark Christian College. Karen traveled between school in Missouri to Virginia where Ed was Stationed. After Ed retired from the Navy the family returned to Omaha.
In 1967 while working at Headsteds in Benson she met Warren Malloy. She returned to Missouri for school but after graduation she came back to Omaha where her and Warren reconnected. In 1968 Warren's reserve unit was called up to active duty in Vietnam. Karen traveled to Seattle Washington to see Warren one more time before he left for Vietnam. It was at the Space Needle in Seattle that Warren proposed. She accepted and agreed to get married when he returned. When Warren returned in 1969 they began making plans and were married in January 1970. After the wedding Karen and Warren enjoyed doing many things together. Warren had purchased and built a 1949 Harley Davidson Panhead and they made many friends and enjoyed riding together. While most of the wives wore black, Karen always wore bright colors and was nick named Betty Crocker by their friends. In January of 1976 Karen and Warren had a son named Tim. Karen decided to stop riding and Warren switched his hobby from motorcycles to classic cars. Warren purchased a 1937 Ford pickup and built it for them. Once again Karen made many new friends in the classic car community that lasted the rest of her life. During the 80s Karen took some floral design classes and began working at David's flowers in Rockbrook. From there she moved to Taylor's flowers in South Omaha. Her final job in the flower field was a Janosec's flowers in the 90's. Tim joined the Boy Scout troop 88 at the urging of a friend, and once again Karen met many new friends in the scout families. Her and Warren would get together with them often and share dinners and many good times.
In 1996 Warren decided that he wanted to rejoin the motorcycle community and purchased a 1990 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic and Karen once again found the passion of riding motorcycles with friends like she use to. During the 2000's Karen went to work for OPS and was a secretary at Rose Hill elementary. After that she moved to Benson West elementary where she worked as an aide to the school nurse. After retiring her and Warren enjoyed traveling to Branson Missouri to see the sights of the Ozarks and enjoyed the live shows of Branson.
Karen was raised in a kind and loving Christian home, where she was taught to be kind and understanding of everyone. Even if they didn't agree. She always tried to see the best in everyone and always looked out for others that were less fortunate than her.
