Vera Lucia Santos DaSilva Sutter passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 70, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 24, 1955, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, and was the oldest of four children. She was daughter of João Irani DaSilva and Thereza Lima Moran DaSilva.

Vera was known for her compassion, kindness, and forgiving nature. She had a beautiful singing voice, performing as an alto and soprano in church choirs, and her infectious laughter and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ touched everyone around her.

Vera began her education in Brasil and graduated from Pioneer Valley Academy, MA. She continued her studies at Union College in Lincoln, NE. Vera worked at Creighton University as a Dental Assistant for 25 years.

As a devoted and persistent mother, Vera cherished her time spent with Arcelia, her husband, her church family, and her gym friends, all of whom enjoyed her genuinely energetic spirit. Vera's love knew no bounds - she spoke highly of others and all felt welcomed in her presence. She encouraged those around her with her positive attitude and prayed for peace and well-being in her prayer groups. Even amid uncertainty when diagnosed with terminal cancer, her faith carried her and gave her strength.

Vera is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter, Arcelia L. Gomez (Elliot), followed by siblings, Ester D. Evans (Mel), Jonas DaSilva (Christina), Josias DaSilva (Betsy). She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, all who will forever hold her memories close to their hearts

A funeral service and celebration of Vera's life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 11:00AM at the Omaha Memorial SDA Church (840 North 72nd Street, Omaha, NE) , followed by light refreshments. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Siena Francis House and Lydia House of Omaha, Nebraska. Organizations Vera dearly supported.

We will cherish Vera's memories of good health, laughter, and her limitless love, carrying forward her legacy of kindness and joy in our lives.
