Thomas Wayne Nash

Thomas Wayne Nash, June 3, 1943 ~ December 10, 2025

Thomas “Tom” Wayne Nash, age 82, passed away on December 10, 2025. Born in Britton, South Dakota, he moved at a young age and spent the majority of his life in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by the people he loved most.

Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1971, spending active duty aboard the USS Saratoga in the Mediterranean Sea as an air traffic controller. He later worked in the grocery business, including many years at Hinky Dinky and Wohlner’s Grocery Store. Though proud of these chapters, Tom’s true priorities were never his job titles—they were the people around him.

He approached life with optimism and an easy sense of humor. His kindness and generosity were felt most deeply by his immediate and extended family, whom he loved without hesitation. He was an avid sports fan, faithfully watching Huskers football, Bluejay basketball, and Kansas City Chiefs games right up to the end of his life. Tom found simple joy in fishing for carp at Two Rivers State Park and visiting the Henry Doorly Zoo. His beloved dog, Benny, was always by his side.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kris; daughter, Heather (Khai); grandchildren Becca (Karac), Ethan, and Kat; sisters Jan and Mary and their spouses; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark, and his parents, Lee and Lou Nash.

A private family celebration of life was held to honor and remember him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Henry Doorly Zoo Foundation or through “Give Back” for Nebraska Game and Parks in support of fishing.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the importance of family. His warmth, humor, and steady love will stay with us for the rest of our lives, forever missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
