Theresa (Terri) Joan Turner, 90 years old, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Gretna, Nebraska.

Born on September 17, 1935, to Joe and Anna (Schneider) Koopsma. Terri grew up on a farm near Fairview, SD with two sisters and two brothers. She worked hard doing the farm chores and playing with her younger sister. In high school she looked forward to dances and other high school activities.

After graduating from high school on May 21, 1953, Terri moved to Sioux City, Iowa where she worked as a bookkeeper at First National Bank. Soon after, she and her roommate rented their first tv. Upon delivery, she offered the handsome delivery man some fresh baked cookies. A few days later, that debonair delivery man made a return trip with the excuse to check on the tv in hopes of receiving additional cookies. Larry – AKA the deliveryman -then asked Terri on their first date. Thus began their life together.

Lawrence (Larry) Turner married Terri on Sunday evening, August 5, 1956, in Hudson, SD. They remained living in Sioux City, Iowa for 11 years, during which time they had three sons, Rod, Robin, and Keith. In 1967 they moved to Wayne, NE where they owned Swanson’s TV and Appliance store. In Wayne, Terri served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, enjoyed playing on a golf league, and making many lifelong friends.

In 1976 the family moved to Aurora NE where Terri continued being a housewife and involved mother. She enjoyed shopping with friends and following high school sports. The couple lived in Grand Island, NE for a few years before moving to Omaha in 1984. Terri created a beautiful home and magnificent backyard oasis. She enjoyed having family cookouts and following her grandchildren’s many events. She resided in the Omaha area for the remainder of her life. Those who knew Terri will remember her for love of family, her kind spirit, and knack for shopping.

Terri is survived by her husband Larry of Gretna, sons Rod (Lynette) of Omaha, Robin (Renee) of Crooks, SD, Keith (Angie) of Dothan, AL; Grandchildren Matt (Ashley) Turner of Omaha, Katie (Alex) Palmquist of Omaha, Nathan Turner of Phoenix, AZ, Ryan (Lauren) Turner of Davenport, IA, Natalie Turner Las Vegas, NV, and Nicole Turner of Birmingham, AL. Great-Grandchildren, Noah, Liam, and Jaxon Turner, and Ryker, Braxton, and Mila Palmquist; her sister Ilene (Grant) Evanson of Minnetonka, MN and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Anna Koopsma, brothers, Rich Koopsma, and Barney Koopsma, sister Bert Havelaar; parents-in-law Lawrence and Sylvia Turner, sister-in-law and husband Barb (John) Kelly, and brother-in-law and wife Kay (Linda) Turner.

A funeral service (celebration of life) for Terri Turner will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Braman Mortuary, Millard, 6505 S 144th St. Omaha, NE 68137. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, May 22 at Braman Mortuary, Millard.
