Terrence Francis “Terry” Moore

January 12, 1939 - September 21, 2026

Terry Moore, of Omaha, NE, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, after a 7 year battle with Alzheimer's. He was 87.

Born in Omaha on January 12, 1939, Terry was a lifelong Nebraskan who grew up in Omaha and graduated from North High School. He was a man who loved life, loved being active, and rarely met a sport he didn’t enjoy. Athletic, energetic, competitive and always up for a challenge, Terry carried his love of sports and the outdoors throughout his entire life.

Terry joined the Marines after high school and shortly after completing his service he met his future wife at a friend's wedding in 1959. In June 1961, Terry married the love of his life, Delores “Debbie” Boryca, beginning a marriage that lasted 58 years until her passing in 2019. They built a loving family together and were blessed with 2 sons, Jeff and Mike, 4 grandchildren, Scott, Alexa, Nathan and Chloe, and 1 great-granddaughter, Sloane.

Terry worked as an independent contractor for over 30 years laying carpet and linoleum for Nebraska Furniture Mart. At the age of 50 he transitioned to a new position with the Millard School District working at Millard West until he retired. He often said being around the students kept him young at heart.

Terry had a passion for skiing, running, cycling and golf. He was an avid runner completing more than 15 marathons. Running was more than simply exercise for Terry, it reflected his determination, discipline and love of a challenge.

He was equally passionate about cycling. Terry participated in the Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) over a half dozen times, taking on the challenge of riding across his home state. BRAN is a multi-day bicycle tour across Nebraska, an experience that combines long days in the saddle with the camaraderie and small-town hospitality of the communities along the route.

Golf was another great love. Terry was an avid golfer who loved being on the course with friends and family. He played well into his early 80's, sometimes shooting his age.

Terry loved skiing in Colorado, often making the drive from Omaha to Dillion, CO several times a ski season.

Those who knew Terry will remember not only his athletic accomplishments but also his enthusiasm for life. He embraced challenges, stayed active, and found joy in being outdoors and doing the things he loved. Whether running a marathon, riding his bicycle across Nebraska, skiing or spending a day on the golf course, Terry approached life with energy and determination.

Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie. He is survived by his sons, Jeff Moore and his wife, Babs, and Mike Moore and his wife, Aileen; his grandchildren, Scott and his wife, Taylor, Alexa Moore Whitmer and her husband Kylan and their daughter Sloane, along with Nathan and Chloe.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
