Steven Smart, 58, of Springfield, NE, died Monday, August 15, 2016. Steve was born September 30, 1957, son to Patricia Abboud Smart. Steve married his beloved wife Colleen Kennedy in 1983. Steve grew up in Omaha attending Holy Name and Cathedral High School.He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Henry Abboud, working at Falstaff for many years before starting his own HVAC business. He later worked at Kellogg’s for 16 years. Steve is survived by his wife and best friend Colleen, his son Elliott and wife Rebekah; grandchildren, Caden, Payton, Ashton, and Declan; nieces Ali Ribeiro-Bakar and Kathryn Ruiz; his favorite aunt Jeanie Starkey; in-laws Francis (Margaret) Kennedy; brothers Patrick and Michael (Becky); sisters Ramona (Jim) Orr, Connie Scarpello, Cheri (Neil) Early, Shirley (Daryl) Cyr, Mary (Gordy) Headley, Peggy (Pete) Prine; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and his other 500 best friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Patricia and his brothers Gerard and Jeff. Memorial service Saturday 11am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springfield, NE (102 9th St), with a rosary held Friday at 7pm at the same location. Remains will be interred at a later date. In lieu in flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the family. In remembrance of Steve’s love of life, deeply rooted friendships, and mad harmonica skills, the family will host a birthday celebration Friday, September 30, at 7 p.m. at the Omaha Firefighter’s Hall at 6005 Grover St.All family and friends are invited. Musician friends are encouraged to bring their instruments to jam in honor of Steve.
