Sheryl Ann Peterson (Russmann)

1948 – 2026

Sheryl Peterson, born on September 22, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on August 20, 2026 in Omaha, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and countless memories that will forever be cherished.Sheryl attended Yates Grade School, where she made lifelong friends, including Mary, Susie, Pam, Jane, and Karen. She graduated from Central High School in 1966.Sheryl was truly a family-first kind of lady. Her greatest joy came from the people she loved, and she had a special way of always thinking of others before herself. Whether it was a simple visit, a family gathering, or celebrating the holidays together, what mattered most to Sheryl was having her family close. She loved her coffee, time spent with family, and the simple pleasures of life. One of her favorite pastimes was thrift shopping with her sister, Diane. The two enjoyed searching for a good deal and, even more importantly, spending that time together. Those everyday moments became some of life's most treasured memories.Sheryl was a devoted wife to her husband of 59 years, Jimmy Peterson (married in June of 1967), and a loving mother to her son, Bryan Peterson married to Chris Peterson. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brycen Peterson and welcomed with love his fiancée, Chloe Burge and Great Grandson Cohen Peterson.Sheryl is also survived by her sister, Diane Wiegert married to Mike Wiegert, along with their child, Derek married to Bridget, and their children Dylan and Brooklinn. She is also remembered with love by her grandniece, Jennifer Walksler married to Robbie, and their children, Cove and Cora. Great nephew Jace Weigert. Aunt and Uncle Randy and Carol Trivley with children, Scott, Stacy and Cindy, as well as other family members and friends from Piccolo's Bar whose lives she touched.Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Edward (Derald) Russmann and Peggy Russmann. Niece Heather Meinke. Grandparents Ed and Doyne RussmanThose who knew Sheryl will remember her for her caring heart, her selflessness, and the importance she placed on family. She found happiness not in grand things, but in being together—sharing coffee, enjoying family visits, celebrating holidays, finding a bargain while thrift shopping, and simply spending time with the people she loved. Her absence leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but the love she gave so freely will remain with her family always. She will be deeply loved and missed until the day we see her again in Heaven. In God's loving arms, Sheryl has found eternal rest. Though our hearts ache, we rejoice in the promise that we will meet again in His heavenly kingdom.May the memories she gave us bring comfort, may her love continue to guide us, and may we find peace knowing that she is home with the Lord.
