Sandra Marie Russo, April 12, 1944 ~ October 28, 2025

Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose gentle nature and quiet strength left an imprint on everyone who knew her. She met the love of her life, Phillip, in 1977 in Council Bluffs, introduced by friends. From that moment, the two were inseparable. They married on March 16, 1979, ready to take on the world together. Their greatest joy came in February of 1982 when they welcomed their daughters, Rita and Laura, beginning a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories as a family.

Sandra found her truest happiness in being surrounded by the people she loved most. She absolutely treasured her time with her grandchildren — Teagan, Nate, and Gracie — who brought endless light and laughter into her life.

Those who knew Sandra remember her for her kindness, her gentle humor, and her silly, fun-loving spirit. She could always find a way to make people smile. She was artistic and thoughtful, expressing herself through her drawings and poetry. She loved being outdoors — fishing for largemouth bass, camping under the stars, and finding beauty in simple, quiet moments. She and Phil shared many adventures together, including their frequent trips to the casino and their shared love of dogs. Over the years, they cared for many beloved pets, and her loyal mini Aussie, Buddy, remained faithfully by her side.

Sandra faced life’s hardest challenges with grace and courage. A three-time cancer survivor, she met every diagnosis with strength and determination. Even after being diagnosed a fourth time, she continued to approach each day with humor, love, and resilience — a true testament to her spirit.

Her laughter, creativity, and gentle heart will be deeply missed, but forever remembered by those who had the gift of knowing her.
