Roger A. Stueckrath

Stueckrath, Roger A. 12/24/1935 – 1/12/2021 Roger A. Stueckrath was born on Dec. 24, 1935 in Magnet, Nebraska, the seventh of eight boys and one girl to Louis and Ida Stueckrath. They were a farming family, self-sufficient, hard-working, and modest, with plenty of love to go around. The family moved close to Plainview when Roger was in elementary school, and continued to farm. Roger was an excellent student, hardworking, and especially gifted in math. While attending high school in Plainview, he met the love of his life, Dona Rene Epke. They married shortly after high school, a marriage that would last over 65 years and moved to Norfolk, where he attended Norfolk Junior College. Two years and one baby later, Rog, Dona and Terry moved to Lincoln, where Roger finished his degree in Civil Engineering and entered the world of construction. They were blessed with a second son, Todd, and a few years later a daughter, Kristi. In 1967 the family moved to Omaha, where Roger started Cedar Construction, and remained there for the rest of his career. Baby number four, Kari, came along to round out the family. Roger was successful in his business, but his heart always remained with farming. He purchased a farm near Blair where he could still get his hands in the dirt and raise livestock. He was a very generous, caring person who loved entertaining anyone around him and always made sure to pick up the tab wherever he was. He and Dona loved the Huskers and spent over 50 years attending football games. He also enjoyed attending his seven grandchildren’s activities and was their biggest fan. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ida Stueckrath; son, Todd Stueckrath He is survived by his wife, Dona Rene Stueckrath; son and daughter in law, Terry and Lori Stueckrath; daughter and son in law, Kristi and Todd Johnson; daughter and son in law, Kari and Paul Nelson; grandchildren, Dillon, Hallie, Hunter, Emily, Claire, Emma and Gretchen. Memorials can be made to UNL College of Engineering in honor of Roger Stueckrath. Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00 a.m Monday January 18, 2021 Celebration of Life starts at 11:00 a.m.St. Paul Lutheran Church, 13271 Millard Ave, Omaha, NE. Luncheon to follow at Millard Social Hall.
