Roberta K. Robison

Roberta “Mickey” Robison, 88, was released from the confines of this physical existence, carried into the next realm on March 29, 2026, just two weeks shy of her 89th birthday. She was surrounded by the deep and abiding love of her family—some at her side, and all in her heart, leaving behind a life that was as colorful, warm, and full of heart as Mickey herself.

A proud Omaha native, Mickey lived her entire life in the city she called home — and that city was better for it.

Mickey’s story began with resilience. After losing her mother before she was old enough to start school, she was raised by her maternal grandmother, Amelia Kohler. It was not always an easy upbringing, but it forged in Mickey a quiet strength and an independence that stayed with her all her life — and perhaps made her all the more determined to show up for others the way she wished someone had shown up for her.

She spent her working years housekeeping at Immanuel Hospital and in private homes— honest, hardworking labor she took quiet pride in. But her greatest work was the warmth she gave freely to everyone in her orbit. She was always the first to lend a hand, always ready with a kind word, and never too busy to make someone feel seen.

Mickey knew how to live. She polka danced, played cards, thrifted like a champion, and cooked and gardened with equal love and skill. She tended her plants with the same devoted care she gave to her people, and her home was always growing something — indoors and out. She treasured her annual trips to Lake McConaughy with her girlfriends and her beloved cousin Bobbie Jo — and she never slowed down about it. Just two summers ago, at 86 years old, she climbed aboard a jet ski and loved every minute of it. She was, by all accounts, absolutely tickled. And she never missed a chance to hit the casino with her great-niece Amber.

She was preceded in death by her companion Richard “Dick” Dye, her sisters Shirley McAmis and Joann Beery, and brother, Lawrence Shively.

Mickey is survived by her children Debra Sosa (Florencio), Robert Leonard, and Tina Skelton; stepchildren Connie VanHoolandt and Chuck Robison; grandchildren Shane Leonard, Jacklyn Salgado (Moises), Travis Skelton (Heather), and Airiel Bailey (Josh); and great-grandchildren Aura, Ilan, Evelyn, and Brecken.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 18, 2026, at Florence Community Center from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Those who loved Mickey are invited to carry her forward the way she lived — generously, joyfully, and always with a good word.

Like a well-tended garden, her love will continue to bloom in the lives she touched.
