Robert "Rob" K. Oesterle

July 3, 1960 — May 12, 2020

Robert (Rob) Keith Oesterle Our beloved Rob went to his Heavenly home on May 12, 2020, surrounded by those that loved him after an intense battle with cancer. He was born July 3, 1960 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Ernest and Lois (Stewart) Oesterle. Rob is survived by the love of his life Julie, his children Holly (Brad) Miller, Devin Koesters, and Audrey Oesterle. He also is survived by his granddaughters Hannah (Zach) Burckholter and Brianna Miller, as well as a great granddaughter Eloise Maree. He had several siblings as follow: Cindy (John) Frey, Lynette (Vince) Amato, Tim (Kathy) Rigel, and Steve (Vickie) Rigel. With his siblings, Rob has an extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rob was preceded in death by his father and mother, as well as his stepmother Carol and his brother Douglas (Brenda) Oesterle. Rob’s family and the care of his family was his priority. He loved with all his heart and was so proud of ensuring that others were taken care of and loved. He found such joy in the smiles of others and was such a softie around his daughters and granddaughters, and would bend over backwards to make them happy even at the expense of making himself look silly! Devin has such a fond memory of Rob helping him get out of so many pictures after his graduation from the Marine Corp bootcamp, by telling Julie “We gotta go…we gotta get him out of here…lets go” while proudly wearing his “My Son Is A Marine” shirt. Rob had such a kind soul and had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his black lab, Bandit, his basset hound Princess Darcelina Mae, his golden retriever Buck and his granddog Toby and Devins pup May May. Walks with Toby were a highlight of his day and gave him time to reflect and relax. Rob’s faith in Our Heavenly Father gave him tremendous strength to stand boldly in the face of adversity, and to face each obstacle in his way with patience, kindness and hope no matter what. He was heavily involved with his church from the ground up and was a founding member of The Waters Edge, as well as many small groups and committees. Rob was a proud member of Heartland Walk to Emmaus. He achieved the status of Assistant Lay Director and was on the Walk to Emmaus Board. He had so many friends that cared deeply about him and became his family as well. They were loved tremendously and he never failed to show that to them. His hobbies included spending time outside, always making sure his lawn was cared for. Rob was a true Ohio State Buckeyes fan and was so proud that his daughters were fans as well. He enjoyed Nascar, especially Rusty Wallace. One of his favorite activities was helping and watching Audrey in her show choir groups and was so proud to be a show choir dad! He was her number one cheerleader! Rob was Devins number one go to for cooking skills and would walk him through every step with so many laughs. Rob was a simple man who loved to relax with family and friends, enjoying simple times together, and being outdoors. His favorite place to vacation was Tennessee in the mountains or Ohio to visit his granddaughters and close friends in the Buckeye State.
