Robert D. "Bob" Hagerty
April 9, 1944 – November 19, 2025
Robert “Bob” Hagerty, 81, passed away on November 19th, held lovingly in the arms of his wife of 57 years, Marilyn. Born to Forrest and Joyce (Gallagher) Hagerty and raised in Sioux City, Iowa. Bob grew up in a lively home with six siblings - Marion, Helen, Paul, James, Patricia and Jerome. It was a childhood that filled him with stories he would joyfully retell throughout his life.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, including service during the Vietnam era from 1962 to 1965. His time in the military shaped his strength, humor, and enduring appreciation for the people he loved.
After returning home, Bob began his career driving buses for Trailways. Some of his favorite memories from those early years were taking his children along on his routes, turning simple bus trips into treasured adventures. He later finished his career with Ford Credit, ensuring the family always drove Ford vehicles, a tradition the whole family embraced with pride.
Bob had a rare gift for storytelling and an incredible memory for movies. He could name any actor on the screen and recite the best lines from nearly any film. Family gatherings were filled with his commentary, laughter, and joy he found in sharing something he loved with the people he loved even more.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn; his son Jeff and daughter-in-law Keely; his daughter Amy and son-in-law Neal; and his beloved grandchildren Connor, Keegan, Alex, Peyton, Addy, and Grace.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and stories, both the ones he lived and the ones he told. They will be cherished forever. More than anything, Bob loved his family. His greatest joy was being a husband, Dad, and Grandpa, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Joyce Hagerty, sister and brother in law, Marion and Jim Grieve, sister Patricia Kyte, brother in law Jerry Thompson, nephew James Thompson, and niece Tracy Grieve Crespo.
