Richard L. "Dick" Fehrman

Richard (Dick) L. Fehrman passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Westgate Assisted Living facility in Omaha, NE.He was born on January 7, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa. Dick graduated from Sioux City High School and then volunteered for the United States Navy to serve his country. Following his honorable discharge from the service, Dick moved to Omaha where he met his wife of 66 years, Vivian. He was an accomplished graphic designer and printer, working for the Omaha World Herald and ultimately retiring from the Union Pacific Railroad. Dick was a passionate golfer and enjoyed spending time at Shoreline Golf Course with friends and family. He especially enjoyed golfing with his grandsons, showing them his ability to shoot better than his age right up to his last round when he was just shy of 90 years old! Dick was also very proud of his many volunteer hours spent as a ham radio operator. He connected servicemen with their friends and family through the Military Armed Forces System before current social media methods existed. After retirement, he and Vivian enjoyed their time in Florida with numerous friends relaxing and soaking up the sun. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vivian Fehrman and four children; Rick Fehrman (Ellie), Patti Lade, Mike Fehrman (Cindy) and Bill Fehrman (Kathy), brother Ray (Cindy) Fehrman, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn (Maloy) Fehrman, father, Lawrence Fehrman, brother Bob Fehrman and grandsons Timmy Fehrman & Eric Lade. SERVICES: The visitation will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, May 7th, 2017 with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial 2:00 PM Monday, May 8th also at St. Pius X Catholic Church with a reception following. Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery following the reception. In lieu of flowers, please direct Memorials to St. Pius X Catholic Church in Omaha.
