Randall Ray Wing 1950-2026

Randall Ray Wing,75, a devout Christian from Omaha, Nebraska returned to God at home on January 9th, 2026.

Randy was born July 21, 1950, in Kearney, Nebraska to Ross and Eileen Wing (Beck) as 1 of 6 children. While the family moved around, he attended Sutton Elementary school, Burwell Jr. High School before graduating Polk High School in 1968.

After graduating from Polk High School, he enrolled and started attending Norfolk Junior College in Norfolk, Nebraska. After his first semester he made the decision to enlist in the United States Air Force and served in the USAF Security Service.

While in the Air Force he was introduced to his future wife Barbara through his brother Russell. They started writing letters back and forth which quickly transformed into something more. While home on a 30 day leave in December of 1969, they dated and fell in love. Prior to shipping out to Okinawa Japan, they decided “we won’t say goodbye, we will say until we meet again.” That day was January 16th, 1969 (his celebration of life to be held 57 years later to the date).

This long-distance relationship later led to a proposal and marriage of 55 years. Randy and Barbara were married on September 29, 1970, in Litchfield, Nebraska. The occasion was a double wedding ceremony that also included Randy's brother Russell and Barbara's sister Diana(a tradition that has previously occurred in the Wing family). Shortly after the wedding Randy departed to Okinawa for his first duty station. After 18 months, he transferred to San Vito Air Station in Italy, where his wife Barbara joined him until his discharge.

He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in April 1973, after reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. After leaving the Air Force Randy and his wife moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where he began working at Precision Bearing for 30 + years in various branches taking him from Nebraska to California and back. He then started his second career at Warren Distribution, retiring in 2021.

In retirement he was a proud member of the American Legion Post #1 Honor Guard. In addition, he pursued a variety of interests and hobbies, including attending rodeos, playing tennis, engaging in photography, and, as he described it, serving as a "desk pilot" through his flight simulator. He found the greatest satisfaction in spending time with and supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their activities.

Randy was a devoted Christian to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Randy attended multiple churches in his life and was a charter member of Third City Christian Church in Grand Island, Nebraska. He then planted Church of the Desert in Palm Desert, California. Randy

and his wife have been attending Stonebridge Christian Church in Omaha, Nebraska since 1996.

One of Randy’s favorite Bible verses was Romans 8:38. Randy’s Christian beliefs shaped all parts of his life, helping make him the cherished person everyone knew. This is the legacy he leaves his family and everyone that encountered him.

Preceded in death by his parents Ross and Elieen Wing, brother Dennis Wing and sister Diane Schutt, who will greet him in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; his sons, Stephen (Robin) Wing of Omaha and Timothy (Amy) Wing of Colorado; his grandchildren, Faith Cain of North Carolina, Broderick Wing of South Dakota, Rees Wing of Omaha, Grant Wing of Colorado, and Delani Wing of Omaha; his great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Henry Wing of Omaha; and his cherished grand dogs, Pebbles and Jasmine.

He is also survived by his brother, Russell(Diana) Wing of Grand Island; sisters Roslyn (Greg) Dunning and Krysteen (Mike) Hasselquist, both of Arizona; sister-in-law Carol Wing of Grand Island; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Randy’s Life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 9:30 am with visitation at 8:30 am at Braman Mortuary (144th and Harrison location). Internment to be held directly following at Omaha National Cemetery at 11:00am.

A light lunch reception is scheduled to take place at Stonebridge Christian Church, Millard location (13906 S. Plaza, Omaha) from noon to 2:00 p.m.
