Patricia Lynn Kucera

Patricia Lynn Kucera (Pattie) was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 24, 2026. She is free of all her pain and suffering. Pattie was born to Michael S. and Monica J. Mabee on February 10, 1964 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She passed away at University of Nebraska Medical Center surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer and many complications. She was preceded in death by her Father and Stepmother, Michael S and Nancy L. Mabee, Step-father, Will Turner, Father and Mother-in Law, Norman and Eleanor Kucera, Grandparents H. Grant and Evelyn Mabee and John and Alice David, Uncle William and Aunt Sylvia Mabee and Aunt Patricia Gibboney. She is survived byher husband of 36 years, Daryl L. Kucera, son, Joshua T. Kucera, daughter, Haile C. Kucera, brother, Jeffrey A. (Sherri)Mabee , step-brother Chad M.(Jodi) Rowe, step-sisters, Melissa Ryker, Jodi M. (Jason) Stewart , mother, Monica J. Turner , Uncles Mel (Karen) and Glenn (Diane) Kucera, nieces, nephew, many cousins and a host of close friends. Pattie married Daryl L. Kucera on June 6, 1990 in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. They raised their 2 children, many pets and together faced challenges and celebrations with love and respect for each other. She Graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in Lakewood, CO in 1982 and after working for Continental Airlines and Southwest Airlines decided her heart was really in the nursing field. While in her 40's, she started nursing school, received her RN, then continued her education, received a BSN and a Master's Degree in Nursing. During this period, she had many health problems, several rounds of chemo but graduated with honors. Pattie worked at several hospitals and her last 10 years were spent at the VA Hospital where she cared for the veterans that she loved so much. They touched her heart and she certainly touched theirs. Pattie was an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Omaha, NE where she thrived in her faith. It was her faith that carried her through some of her worst days of suffering. Her priorities were her faith, her family and her friends and she treated them all as a gift. Everyone who knew her felt special and she touched many hearts. She loved to garden and she loved to take care of the dogs, cats and chickens she had, whom she also considered family. She had a gift for making everyone feel special and valued but could lighten the mood with a joke or a little prank. She was generous , forgiving, and never spoke unkindly of anyone. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10:00 am at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7706 S. 96th St LaVista, NE 68128. Reception will be held immediately following at the church.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors on the Cancer ICU floor at the Medical Center who provided such compassionate care during her final days. Her nurses, Katy, Megan, John and Ashley and Dr. Patel were especially wonderful.

If you so wish to donate to a charity in her honor, she had a special place in her heart for Canine Companions and their email is www.canine.org or do as she always did and Pay it Forward.
