A Tribute to the Life of Nyoach Reath
On September 3, 1995, in Fridley, Minnesota, a bright soul entered the world — Nyoach Reath. Born to Deng Reath and Nyadech Lee, and raised in the embrace of a large, loving family. Reath grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by the brothers and sisters who would become his lifelong companions: Tesloach, Jack, Nyathow, Victoria, Mal, Nyanhial, and Wakow. Together they formed a circle of love, laughter, and memories that shaped the man he became.
From a young age, it was clear Reath carried a spark within him — something warm, magnetic, and unforgettable. That spark followed him through childhood and into his years at Omaha Central High School, where he graduated with the Class of 2014. There, he found one of his greatest passions: basketball. To Reath, the basketball wasn’t just a sport, it was a best friend, a teacher, and a place of peace. His dedication shined on the court, where he helped bring home a Class A Men’s Basketball Championship, an achievement he held close to his heart.
Family was everything to him. Whether he was joking with his siblings, catching up with cousins, or spending quiet moments with those he loved most, Reath found joy in togetherness. He brought comfort simply by walking into a room. He brought laughter without even trying. And in every dark place, he carried a brightness that made others feel safe, seen, and uplifted. That was his gift and one he shared generously with everyone blessed to know him.
On November 2, 2025, our lives changed forever when Reath was called home. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he left behind is immeasurable. His smile, his energy, his presence, these remain alive in the hearts he touched. His story continues in the love of his family, the memories of his friends, and the legacy of a life lived with passion, humor, and heart.
Reath will forever be remembered as a son who brought pride, a brother who brought connection, and a friend who brought light. His journey may have reached its end, but his spirit continues to shine in everyone who carries him forward.
May his memory be a blessing, and may the light he carried continue to guide us.
