How lucky we are to have known someone who is so hard to say goodbye to. Nick Strub was born in Moline, Ill. and instantly became the treasured son of Brian and Nancy Strub. He graduated from Riverdale High School in 2000 and earned a degree in mechanical engineering at Iowa State University in 2004. Nick waited until Nov. 27, 2005 for the perfect opportunity to sweep his childhood friend Krissy (Quinn) off her feet. The two married on May 10, 2008, in Davenport, Iowa. Nick and Krissy built their home in Elkhorn, Neb. with their two beloved dogs, Jackson and Buddy. Nick was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2006, though many would never know his pain because he loved life, his friends and family, and his job as Reliability Manager at Kellogg’s. Nick’s courageous fight ended peacefully in the early morning of November 22, 2011. Nick is survived by the love of his life, Krissy Strub of Elkhorn; his parents, Brian and Nancy Strub of Port Byron, Ill.; sister, Mary (Paul) Remington of London, UK; his father and mother-in-law, Samuel and Traute Quinn, sisters-in-law, Heidi (Robert) Hungate, and Holly (Aaron) Larson, and three nieces who Uncle Nick adored, all of Port Byron, Ill. A Celebration of Nick's Life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at 2:30 pm, with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service, all at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel). In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in Nick's name to the The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative, 17 Bethea Drive, Ossining, New York 10562-1620
