Michael Louis Kelehan

Michael Louis Kelehan, 81, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026.

He was born on January 17, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Kelehan; his sister Patricia Crosser (Kelehan), his beloved wife of more than 53 years, Mary Ann Kelehan; and his sons, Paul Kelehan and Matthew Kelehan. Mike is survived by his sons, Mark Kelehan and Sean Kelehan; his grandchildren, Amelia, Julia, Penny, Violet, and Grant; along with extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Mike honorably served his country for 40 years. In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, beginning a 20-year active-duty career spent primarily in military intelligence. After retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1987, Mike continued his commitment to public service, beginning a second 20-year career in Government Service working with U.S. Special Forces. His career took him around the world, including assignments in Kuwait, Egypt, Korea, Qatar, and Germany, where Mike and his family spent many years living in Munich. Throughout those four decades, Mike carried himself with quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and a deep sense of duty to his country.

Mike was also a devoted husband to his wife, Mary Ann, whom he married on February 4, 1967. They shared more than 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2020. Mike enjoyed driving Mary Ann around town and across the country on adventures that often included visits to thrift stores hunting for Fire King mugs and other “deals.” Together they built a life centered on faith and family. Though he traveled extensively throughout his career, his greatest joy was always returning home to those he loved, including his four sons.

Mike will be remembered for his quiet wisdom, thoughtful nature, and the pride he took in his family.Mike's legacy is one of honor, sacrifice, loyalty, and love. His years of service to his country, devotion to his family, and quiet strength leave an enduring example for all who knew him.He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Mike will be laid to rest with his wife Mary Ann at a Private Ceremony at the Omaha National Cemetery.
