Michael was the son of Lloyd and Lou (Golden) Felthauser. He has one sister, Deanna, and two brothers, Daniel “Danny” and Chad.
Michael’s family moved around when he was younger. They first lived in Millard, then moved to Fremont, back to Millard, to Papillion and then back to Millard. While he was in Millard, he lived across the street from a young lady named Sandra Kay Campbell. At the time, she thought Michael was bossy and paid him no attention. It wasn’t until he moved to Papillion that she decided he might not be so bad. Michael would ride his bike from Papillion to Millard just to see Sandy. It was then that they began dating at the age of 13. Michael and Sandra were married on August 16th, 1980, at Central Church of the Nazarene in Omaha, Nebraska. They have two children, Christy Kay Felthauser and Timothy Scott Felthauser.
After high school, Michael joined the army as a chemical warfare specialist. He and his family lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado while he served his country from 1981 to 1984. In 1984, they moved back to Nebraska where they have since resided.
Michael began working at Millard Lumber in February 1985 where he held many different titles. He was a delivery driver for many years before he switched roles and began working in dispatch. After multiple years in dispatch, he became a millwork supervisor. His final position was as a safety/operations manager. He worked for Millard Lumber for 38 years.
Michael was passionate about volunteering at his church. He was a member of the church board and worked in the sound booth on Sunday morning. He was always ready to greet and welcome church members as well as visitors.
Michael was passionate about spending time with family. At family reunions, he was deemed “the life of the party” by many and that “the fun didn’t start until Mike arrived.” Michael was the captain and would drive the truck and camper with Sandy, Christy, Timothy and a family pet to their favorite vacation spots. He would always have a story to tell upon returning home, usually about something unplanned and unfortunate that had happened along the way. After Timothy married Sherri (Davidson) on August 25, 2018, Sherri became part of the family and all five would then begin travelling together with new stories to tell.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lou Felthauser; a family pet, Melanie (dog); a family pet, Tabitha (cat).
Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandy Felthauser; daughter Christy Felthauser of Omaha, Nebraska; son Timothy Felthauser and wife Sherri (Davidson) Felthauser of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Deanna Benck of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two brothers, Daniel “Danny” Felthauser and wife Kendra of Wahoo, Nebraska, and Chad Felthauser and wife Lynn of Prague, Nebraska; niece, nephew, uncle, cousins, in-laws, his work family and his church family.
Visitation for Michael Scott Felthauser will be held on Friday, January 13th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Braman Mortuary in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 14th at 2:00 pm also at the Braman Mortuary. Michael will be cremated following the service, so there will be no graveside service.
