Michael James Arndt, age 75, passed away on October 25, 2026, in Omaha, NE. He was born on November 24, 1950, in Onawa, Iowa to Richard and Elsie Arndt. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1969 and studied criminal justice at Mankato State University in Mankato, MN.

Michael worked in several group homes as a counselor and house parent. In 1984 he began working at the Boys & Girls Home of Sioux City, Iowa where he met the love of his life, Loxi Glaser. After a brief courtship they married September 29, 1984, in Sioux City, Iowa. Michael and Loxi welcomed a son, Austin, on August 10, 1990.

Michael continued to work with young people retiring in 2016 from Woodbury County. There he continued counseling troubled youth and later was responsible for preparing substance abuse and mental commitments.

Michael enjoyed all sports and cheered for the Minnesota Vikings, Boston Celtics and the Iowa State Cyclones. Michael’s favorite sports to watch were anything his son was playing. He never missed a game of basketball, soccer, flag football, baseball or home golf tournament.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, seven uncles, one aunt and several cousins.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, his son, Austin, brother Thomas Arndt and wife, Julie, nephew, Kelly Arndt and niece, Molly Arndt.

Private services were held in Omaha, Nebraska.
