Marion Kathleen Zenker was born Marion Cushing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sunday, December 13th, 1936. She was the firstborn of Samuel A. Cushing and Bernice K.
(Reierson) Cushing’s seven children. She passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, in Papillion, Nebraska.

Marion was a long-time resident of South Dakota, and particularly, of Rapid City. Marion was active in the community as well as local and national politics including running for
the South Dakota legislature and working closely with VP Mondale on his presidential campaign. She founded the local Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and led it for many
years. Additionally, she served many years at Black Hills Institute (Hill City), especially during the turmoil surrounding the discovery of T-rex “Sue” and the subsequent
confiscation of the fossils by the FBI.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Bernita and her brother Samuel. She is survived by her son, Eric Rost of Omaha, two sisters, three brothers, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Her family is planning a memorial service for her at Braman Mortuary in Omaha, Nebraska, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
