Marilyn O’Flynn

Age 87

Marilyn was born in Grafton, Nebraska, on March 23, 1939, to Charles and Florence (Shoff) Harmon. She married the love of her life, John O’Flynn, on December 5, 1959 and celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Marilyn was a devout follower of Jesus Christ, and her faith in Him was the center of her life. She loved studying the Bible, both in quiet time and alongside friends. She faithfully prayed for her family and friends and found great joy in sharing her faith and encouraging others in their own walk with God. Her faith was not simply something she believed—it was something she lived.

Marilyn chose nursing as her profession and worked in the NICU, where she cared for premature babies. She eventually left nursing to devote herself to raising her four children, a role she embraced wholeheartedly.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She treasured moments spent with her children and grandchildren and took great pride in creating a loving home for them. Her children and grandchildren never had store-bought birthday cakes—Marilyn made sure each celebration included one of her homemade creations. She created beautiful wedding cakes and decorated Christmas cookies, so intricate and beautiful they looked as though they could adorn a Christmas tree.

Marilyn is survived by: Children: Kevin; Brian and his wife, Kim; Chris; and Jennifer. Grandchildren: Jonathan, Zachary, Caleb, and Emma. Sisters: Joyce, Charlotte, and Charlene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles(Tenny) and Florence; her stepfather, Charles(Charlie); her brother, Charles(Chuck); and her beloved husband, John.

Marilyn will be remembered for her caring heart, her unwavering faith, her creativity, and her devotion to her family. She showed her faith through her prayers, her words, and the way she cared for the people around her. Her cakes, cookies, and countless acts of love were gifts to those around her, but her greatest gifts were her faith in God and the family she loved so dearly.

Marilyn leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, compassion, and family. The lessons she taught, the prayers she prayed, and the love she shared will continue through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her God and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
