December 26, 2025

Today I celebrate the life of my beautiful mom, Marilyn, age 87, who passed away on December 26, 2025 with me by her side. Mom was born on July 19, 1938 to her parents Carl Raymond Peterson and Lois Louise McIntyre in Burlington, Iowa. She attended Burlington High School and graduated in 1956. Mom worked at the IRC plant in Burlington for several years while raising me as a single divorced parent. She married the love of her life, Robert Eugene Lesmeister, also from Burlington on September 15, 1973. They were married for 44 years until Bob's death in 2017. Mom's health started to decline from then on. I had the privilege and honor to care for her for the last eight years. Mom absolutely loved being a mom to me and a homemaker. She never missed her trips to the beauty salon. Those trips to the salon are some of her favorite childhood memories. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, country music and shopping trips with me. My mom was my greatest inspiration growing up. She instilled life lessons and values in me that I hold dear to my heart still today. She taught me that kindness, compassion and generosity toward others goes a long way. She lived her life with strength and grace even in the most difficult times. She always said, "We can do hard things." I live by those words every day. She was a fighter to the end of her journey on this earth and my hero always. She touched so many lives with the kindness and compassion that she taught me.
Mama you were my best friend, my confidant, my first love and the love of my life. You are in my heart forever. When we meet again Mama, you better have a big ole "mom hug" waiting for me!
I love you forever, Susan (Hall)

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Susan Hall, and was preceded in death by husband, Robert Lesmeister; parents, Carl and Lois Lesmeister and sister, Barbara.
