Major Wilfred “Bill” Lyle Hunt, USAF, Retired, was born May 17, 1932 on a farm near Brunswick, Nebraska and passed away January 20, 2017 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, NE.He was the youngest son of Rev. Grier and Viola (Gallentine) Hunt. He married Vada Faye Steider, oldest daughter of Ed and Ruth (Stolzenburg) Steider on January 25, 1953 in Shickley, Nebraska. Bill entered the Air Force in December 1950 and retired in October 1973 having served in both the enlisted and officer ranks.He was stationed in Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, Japan, Hawaii, Washington, DC and the Republic of Vietnam.He retired as an Intelligence officer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Les, Daryle, Gene, Don and sisters Bernadine, Joyce and Ruth.He is survived by his wife Vada of Omaha, son Steve of Boise, ID, son Scott and all of his family, Marcie, Ethan and Caden, all of Omaha.He is also survived by his sister Janice (Joe) Vermeer of Desert Hot Springs, California and numerous other friends and relatives. Celebration of Life: 11:00 AM Thursday, January 26 at Faith Westwood United Methodist Church, 4814 Oaks Ln. Omaha, NE 68137. Inurnment at Omaha National Cemetery.
