Madalyn M. Richardson

Madalyn M. Richardson, July 18, 2011 ~ Thursday, May 22, 2025

Madalyn. My sweet, sweet Maddie. She was such a smart, loving girl. She enjoyed life. She loved to be around people. She definitely loved to be the center of attention. Maddie came to me when she was 4 years old. I had been visiting her for about a year in the extended care facility where she had been living. She was finally ready to come home with me. When I brought her home, I promised her I would give her the best life I could. I think I did a pretty good job at that. Her health improved, and her hospital stays went down. Before she came to me, she had frequent hospital stays, but living with me her hospital stays became much less frequent. She was healthy. She was happy. She was loved. She touched the lives of many people who will miss her. The loss of her life is a tragedy. The world has a little less light in it without her. Maddie was taken from us not only too soon, but too quickly. I put her to bed on a Wednesday, after her last day of 8th grade. She was her normal, happy, smiling self. When she woke up in the morning she had a fever. “This sucks,” I thought. I also thought, she will need to be admitted, and they will fix her up and she should be home by Saturday. This happened from time to time. But they always fixed her. Always. Little did I know this time was much more serious. Once I got her to the hospital, she went downhill so fast. In an instant, it was serious. The doctors and nurses tried everything they could to stabilize her, but her body was just too far gone. And just like that, the world lost a beautiful soul. Maddie may have had a rough start in life, but she was a happy child. She lived a life that looked different than most 13-year-olds, but she lived her life with a light that shone bright. We will miss her beautiful smiles and her big snorts. We will miss Maddie, and we will forever keep her memory alive.

Survived by Mom (Patti), brothers Jeff, Wesley, and Aidan, sisters Mikki, Gina, Anahla and Lasia. She was preceded in death by brothers Bill, Andrew and Corey.
