JOHNSON, Louis “Mack” 9/30/1937 – 1/31/2018 Louis “Mack” Johnson was born in Ashland, NE in 1937 where he grew up and graduated from high school. He was drafted into the army and served two years in Korea before returning home.Once he was back on American soil, he began working road construction traveling near and far across Nebraska. While working on a highway near David City, he met a beautiful lady name Delores Rejda. Mack and Dee married in 1965 and moved to Millard where they started a family and he began a new job at Western Electric. As an electrical worker, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).He had a strong work ethic and was devoted to his company, no matter what name it took (Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent). After many years of service, he officially retired in 1999. During retirement, Mack and Dee frequently enjoyed traveling to Missouri, where they owned a cabin. They enjoyed the serenity of life on the lake including fishing, boating, nature, and relaxing with a beer in hand, oftentimes relaxing on the porch swing or down on the dock looking out over the water. Mack also enjoyed country music, dancing to polka, and back in the day, bowling.Watching sports was one of his favorite pastimes. As most of us know, he was an avid Husker fan. It was not uncommon to see him with his favorite beverage, Old Milwaukee. Throughout his life, Mack enjoyed the challenge of learning new things—he was a consummate do-it-yourselfer. Repairmen never frequented the Johnson house, because he was it!He repaired T.V.’s, cars, and everything and anything that was broken around the house. He also had a creative side and dove into the art of woodworking. He was savvy with computers, even writing programs to help him pick winning dogs at the race track. Family and friends were very important to Mack. The past several years, he looked forward to weekly meetings with his buddies at the VFW or Legion for a bite to eat and a beer or two.He also loved hosting Friday night dinners for his family, which he and mom started many years ago. Mack will be greatly missed, but we are at peace knowing he has once again reunited with the love of his life.We will forever carry his love in our hearts, until we meet again.
