Lois Jane Hooge

Lois Jane (Baergen) Hooge

Lois was born to Ernest and Carrie Baergen on August 30, 1935 on the second floor of the family farmhouse East of Cordell, OK. The homestead was a local landmark noted by the Black Post which indicated the family's generational claim from the Oklahoma Land Rush. Lois and her sister, Shirley. grew up on the farm until 1945 when Ernest felt the all to enter the ministry and moved the family to Omaha in order to attend Grace Bible Institute.

Lois was traumatized to leave the only home she ever knew. She remembered listening to her mother counseling her sister, Shirley, about the promise of salvation. Lois asked Jesus into her own heart, but struggled with the assurance that she was truly saved. Years later, she said, ""Lord, if I have not truly received you before, I want to receive you now." After her father received his degree, they moved to Medford, OK where Ernest received his first posting. The sisters attended Oklahoma Bible Academy and lived in the dorms. The summer after her graduation, Lois decided to attend Grace Bible Institute as her father did. She said she was going to play the dating field, but God had a different plan. She set eyes on a wonderful, handsome guy from

Minnesota named Willard Hooge. The rest is history and they were married at her father's church on December 18, 1954.

They first set up housekeeping in Omaha for 2 years before moving up to Willard's family farm in Delft, MN. Due to some hard farming years, they moved back to Omaha in early 1961 with their daughter, Pamela. One year later, their son, Marlon, was born.

Lois and Willard found their spiritual gifts in working with the youth ministry and singing in the Omaha Gospel Tabernacle Radio Choir. Upon returning to the Omaha area, Willard found employment on Danby Farms working with the animals. Later, he began working as a carpenter and general contractor, while Lois worked sales and marketing.

The family enjoyed many years of boating and camping together with friends and family. The couple often traveled with his brother David and wife Alice to many cxotic destinations. After they retired, they enjoyed gardening, driving their classic car, fishing, and attending gospel sings. After the death of her husband, Lois became an even more dedicated prayer warrior.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Carrie Baergen, her sister, Shirley, and her husband, Willard. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Reents (Don), and son, Marion Hooge Debra), Grandchildren, Kathryn Reents, Nick Hooge (Christina), Alex Hooge (Jamie), and Jake Hooge Stephanic), Step-Grandchildren, Eric Goodman (Deb) and Seth Goodman (Traci), Great- grandchildren, Elijah, Jonah, Levi, Ethan, Aubree, Mac, Evan, Step Great-grandchildren, Lyndsey (Shad), Laura (Jake), Tiffany (Alex), Bailey (Sarah), and Syerra, and Step Great-Great-Grandchildren, Wyatt, Paislee, Lexi, Parker, Oakley, and Nova.
