Linda Winters

April 3, 1950 - January 2, 2025

Linda Winters lived a life defined by quiet determination, adaptability, and a genuine passion for nurturing others' success. Born on April 3, 1950 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Theodore and Dorothy Woitaszewski, Linda's journey was one of continuous growth, meaningful relationships, and creating impact without seeking the spotlight.

Linda's professional journey began at ConAgra, where a fateful meeting would change the course of her life. It was there she met Donald J. Winters, the man who would become her husband and lifelong companion. Their connection was immediate and profound, blossoming slowly over five years before they wed. On April 12, 1980, Linda and Don committed to building a life together, beginning what would become nearly 45 years of partnership.

After facing challenges with conception, Linda received the joyful news in April 1981 that she was expecting a child. On June 10, 1982, she welcomed her son Aaron into the world. While Don worked long hours to support the family, Linda devoted herself entirely to raising Aaron during his formative early years.

As Aaron grew older, Linda felt called to pursue her own aspirations. She courageously returned to school, balancing her responsibilities as a mother with her educational pursuits. Don stepped in to care for Aaron when possible, supporting Linda's dreams. Her perseverance paid off when she graduated in 1992 with a degree in interior design and textiles.

Linda's career path reflected both her creative talents and her entrepreneurial spirit. After working with several interior design firms to hone her craft, she ventured into establishing her own business. When the demands of solo entrepreneurship became overwhelming, she demonstrated wisdom and flexibility by returning to work with an established design firm.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Linda nurtured a deep passion for mentoring young women. She provided resources and direction through with the Women's Center for Advancement. She used her experiences and insights to help women establish successful careers and changed lives of women to get out of unfavorable personal relationships. She possessed a unique talent for guiding others toward achievement while purposefully remaining in the background—valuing their success above recognition for herself.

Linda and Don shared a remarkable bond that many would describe as a true soulmate connection. They met as mature young individuals and grew even closer through the decades. Their relationship was strengthened through shared interests, including quilting—a craft Linda not only mastered but lovingly taught to Don so they could enjoy it together.

Despite facing numerous health challenges, Linda embraced life with determination and joy. She and Don treasured their many trips to Estes Park, Washington DC and Virginia creating memories that would sustain them through difficult times.

Linda Winters passed away on January 2, 2025, just months before what would have been her and Don's 45th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy characterized by quiet strength, creative talent, and the profound impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. Though she never sought the spotlight, the light she brought to others' lives continues to shine brightly through all those she mentored, loved, and supported.

Linda is survived by her loving husband, Donald J. Winters, and their son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Nikki Winters; as well as 3 beloved grandchildren.
