Linda Rae (Saklar) Cahill

Linda Rae (Saklar) Cahill, age 83, of Omaha, Ne and Lexington, Ne, passed away on September 18, 2025 surrounded by loving family.

Linda was the first-born of five siblings to Stanley Michael “Sak” and Ruth Eola (Samuelson) Saklar on February 16, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska.

She attended Dundee Grade School (K-8th grade) and then Westside High School, graduating in 1960. After graduation she attended UNO and worked for Mutual of Omaha in the Claims Research Department.

Linda married Edmund John Cahill on March 9,1963 in Omaha, Nebraska. Ed’s Naval assignment sent them to Kodiak Island, Alaska and San Diego, California. Over the years Linda and Ed’s adventures also took them to Denver, Boulder, Longmont, Pittsburg and finally back to Omaha in 1974; seven places in eleven years.

This marriage was blessed with three children: Kelly, Cindy and Jeff.

Linda went back to work in the early 80’s as the Summer School Coordinator at Millard Public Schools for 3 years and then as Executive Assistant for the Special Education Department. After 13 years working outside the home, she began her most cherished career—being a Grammy.

For Linda, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life’s biggest blessing. She attended numerous soccer, baseball, football, rugby and hockey games. Ventured many miles in her Midnight Blue 2001 Corvette to watch a rodeo. She also loved camping, going with the crew on dirt bike trips and trips to the beach.

Linda has always enjoyed sports, playing basketball in high school, a member of the Mutual of Omaha Ladies Volleyball team, bowling leagues and an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Time hunting with her father and brother were some of her fondest childhood memories. She kept very busy over the years involved with PTO, Brownies, Girl Scouts (local and national), Cub Scouts, Band Parents, Bible School, Sunday School, Ladies Church, dancing with the Country Kickers, her horse Crystal and known to many turtle “Henry”.

Linda was a member of First Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska.

Remaining to celebrate Linda’s memory are her children, Cindy (Greg) and Jeff (Diane); grandchildren, Nick (Lindsey), Ryan (Melisa), Josh (Becca), Ethan (Victoria), Colton (Becca), Brandon (Andrea), Jordan (Candice), Dylan, Morgan (Max), Alison (Nathan) and Payton; great-grandchildren, Landen, Cealey, Hattie, Hudson, IngLynn, Luka, Gema and an expected great-grandchild due in October ; her bonus children, Ben (Lynne), Vicki (Rodney) and Mary (Todd); brother, Mike (Sang); sisters, Carol (Mike) and Vicki (Joe); brother-in-law, Dan(Julie); sister-in-law, Mindy; cousins who are just like sisters, Jacque and Donna; countless cousins, nieces and nephews; best friend, Sheila Ferber; and cherished long-time friends of the family Rob Tiedgen and Sharon Hurlbut.

Preceding Linda in death are husband, Edmund; beloved companion Jack Bryans; daughter, Kelly; parents, Sak and Ruth Saklar; in-laws, Ed and Ester Cahill; sister, Sally; brothers in-law, Dale and Jim; sister in-law Peggy; and her numerous deeply loved family pets **see appendix A.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 11:00am, Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 12:30pm at Braman Mortuary, 1702 North 72nd, Omaha, Nebraska. Pastor Ken Jensen officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family deeply appreciates memorials given in her name. Contributions may be directed to the family, final designation to be determined later.

Celebration of Linda's life will be held 12:30pm, Wednesday, September 24, 2025 with visitation staring at 11am. All at Braman Mortuary 72nd Street Chapel.
