Joyce Wilma White

Joyce brought a sense of joy, love and family to as many as crossed her path! She was born Joyce Wilma Cutler on December 12, 1935 in Preston, Minnesota to George and Lucille Cutler, and grew up on a dairy farm. She graduated Wykoff High School and then Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, where she was the editor of the college newspaper. She met her husband, Marlo, in classes at Northwestern, where she was first impressed by the questions he asked. They were married June 28, 1958 on the warmest day of that year—with no air conditioning. As they built a young family, they moved between Iowa and Nebraska, eventually landing in Omaha in 1967, where they lived in the same house in Dundee 49 years. Joyce was active in church, and was ready with an answer if you asked her about her Lord and Savior, Jesus. She enjoyed close friendships, dinner with friends and family, antique collecting, picnics and camping trips to Colorado.

In their 60’s, Joyce and Marlo began flipping houses (nearly 50 in total!) with Joyce managing the bookkeeping and decorating. They also worked with international college students, building decades of friendships, offering housing, Bible studies and activities such as waterskiing.

Joyce is survived by her brother Dan Cutler (Ramona), three sons: Steven, (Becky), David (LeAnn) and Kevin (Sheri); second parent to Tomoko Pilege (Dan) and Von (Steve) Adamson. 10 grandchildren: James (Arliss), Caleb (Hanna), Kathryn (Neal), Jake (Alisha), Tyler (Jasmine), Austin (Melanie), Joel (Sydney), Allison, Megan, Josh; and great-grandchildren: Norah, Pippa, Henry, Xiao Xiao, Martin, Nadia, Ayla, Micah, Rylee, Jamison, Gabriel and Everett. Joyce was preceded in death after 63 years of marriage by husband, Marlo; also her parents, one brother and two sisters.
