Joseph John Zitek

Joseph “Joe” Zitek of Omaha, Nebraska was born on April 17, 1957, to Joseph E and Dolores M Zitek. He passed away August 27, 2025 at Lakeside Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carolyn (Ferree) Zitek; one son, J Aaron Zitek; his granddaughters, Brinley and Lyra Zitek; his brothers, Steve (Rita) Zitek and J Samuel Zitek; his sisters, Judy Saunders and Monica (Kevin) Burklund, sister-in-law, Cheryl Ferree, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joe always kept his hands busy. He enjoyed tinkering with small projects around the house and in the yard, loved golfing, watching college football (especially NE football when they won), NE volleyball and KC Chiefs football. He loved watching his granddaughters participate in Show Choir, Choir, Jazz Band and Band listening to the new songs they learned on saxophone or piano.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph E Zitek, brother, Thomas Zitek and brother in laws Gary Alt and Robert Saunders.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Braman Mortuary, 6505 S 144th St, Omaha, NE 68137. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 2:00 pm, with a luncheon to follow.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make checks to Carolyn Zitek, as she will direct all memorials to a college fund for his granddaughters, Brinley and Lyra Zitek.
