Joe was born to Joseph and Verda (Werient) Raymer. Joe grew up in Benson, Omaha Nebraska. Attended St. Bernard's, and Fontenelle grade school, Monroe Middle School and graduated from Tech High School in 1966 in Omaha. As a young boy he and his younger brother Rick delivered news papers for the Omaha World Herald and delivered eggs to several customers. Joe and Rick were inseparable, they did everything together, playing football, baseball, bike riding, fishing, just being there for each other. After graduation Joe worked for HP Smith (bought his first brand new 1967 Mustang car) and Sear's Roebuck as a auto mechanic. He was a co-owner of E-Z Pick-up Service. After seling the business he worked at Creighton Prep High School and later for Boytown National Hospital as their grounds maintenance. Joe retired in 2011. His retirement didn't last long, he became Papa's daycare for his two beautiful grand kids Katelyn and Colton, whom he loved and adored. 

Joe enjoyed collecting old coins, and just about all of John Wayne movies. He enjoyed watching Western's and Hallmark movies. Joe enjoyed reading, spending time outside watching and feeding the birds. His favorite foods were Steak, (LaCasa's, lasagna), Rainbow Serbert. Joe was a avid die hard Husker fan, win or lose. He enjoyed watching reruns of Nebraska Football. Joe was a Boy Scout leader Troop 3 at St. Bernard's for 15 years. Enjoyed camping and went on many High adventure trips with his son Joe. In Boy Scouts at Camp Geiger (Mic-O-Say) Joe was a tribesman where he was name "Big Four Chiefs". Joe is a 3rd. degree Council #1 1600 t Bernard's Parish, and 4". degree assembly #2540 at St Elisabeth Ann's in the Knights of Columbus, Omaha Nebr. Volunteered for many events for St. Bernard's Parish & school and at the Benson Plant Rescue Center. 

Joe married the love of his life to Marilyn Henderson on April 8,1972 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. First home was in Aksarben area and after 8 years moved to Benson area for 45 years. They were blessed with three beautiful children Lisa, Amy and Joe II. Joe was a loving compassionate husband, father and grandfather with a kind heart, loyal character with endless devotion to his family and his Faith in God. His spirit was gentle and rarely ever complained even when he was suffering with pain over the past few year's. Joe is survived by his loving wife Marilyn of 53 years. Daughters Lisa Schmitz (Jim), Amy Mickey, and son Joseph Raymer IIl. Two sweet grand kids Katelyn Schmitz and Colton Mickey. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Verda Raymer, sister's Judykay Hartzel, Christine Gross and brother Richard Raymer.

VISITATION: Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 5-7:00pm, with a WAKE SERVICE at 6:00pm, all at Braman Mortuary (72 St. Chapel)

FUNERAL MASS: Monday, June 2, 2025 at 10:00am at St. Bernard Catholic Church (3601 N. 65 St.)

INTERMENT: Resurrection Catholic Cemetery
