John Mark Brooks

John Mark Brooks passed into the arms of Jesus on April 1, 2024

He left this world, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, humor, and a love for Jesus.

Born on February 21, 1961, to Doris & Darrl Brooks, he loved life to the fullest.

He grew up along side his siblings, Connie, Scott, Jimmy, and Tobie. In the 1970’s, the family moved to the small town of Gravity, IA, where John graduated from Bedford Highschool, in 1982. Living the small town life is a memory that John always spoke about and treasured. In 1985, John moved to Omaha, where he met the love of his life and best friend, Teri Matza.

John & Teri were married on September 26, 1987. They were blessed with two boys, Justin and Jacob, who in turn gave him the joy of being a “papa” to Daphne (Sunshine), Kinsley (Bubbles), and Braelee (Peanut). He loved being the grandfather that made them giggle.

John spent the last 30 years of employment with Hill Brothers Transportation, as a Dispatcher/Planner. He thrived in this environment and was loved for his “tell-it-like-it-is” attitude, and his humor.

John and Teri enjoyed events like Country Stampede and dining out with family & friends. His love for the tropics (and flamingo’s) led them to take trips with friends & family to Cozumel, Playa Del Carmen, Jamaica, and the Dominican. These are memories which will be re-visited for years to come.

John enjoyed life in the fullest, and will be forever remembered for his sense of humor, living life to the fullest, and the love for his family and friends.
