Iris D. Lofquest
March 20th1947-June 28th, 2026
Iris Darlene Lofquest was born on March 20, 1947, in Kansas City to James and Augusta Hall. She went to her eternal home on June 28, 2026, surrounded by family.
Iris was the youngest of three daughters and her dad Jim was in the army, so she grew up in a variety of places including Puerto Rico, Japan, California, and then settled in O’Neill, NE where she graduated High School in 1965. She earned her teaching degree from Kearney State College. She married her husband Bill on June 13th,1970 and enjoyed teaching fourth grade for 5 years in Neligh, NE. Bill’s career with NPPD took them to several towns in NE, including Neligh, Valentine, Hartington, and settled in Plattsmouth where they raised three kids and spent the last 42 years.
Above all else, Iris had the strongest faith and love for Jesus. She found her greatest joy and purpose in her family. She loved every holiday, but especially Christmas and holding her annual Grandkids Christmas party. Her kids and grandkids will all be able to fully decorate their homes with her vast decoration collection. She was an extremely good cook, and no one ever left hungry or without leftovers. She and Bill enjoyed attending their kids and grandkids events/sports, and spending time at their lake spot at Hidden Hollow in Plattsmouth. She adored dogs, particularly her “grand dogs”, loved the Huskers, and was proudly patriotic. Iris always had an open ear and kind word for anyone she met and loved conversation. She will be greatly missed.
Iris was proceeded in death by her parents, James and Augusta Hall; her sister, Sandy Potter; and son-in-law, Justin Moenkhoff.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Bill; her children Angie (Dave) Stones, BJ Lofquest, Natalie Moenkhoff, and Maquel Schippert who she considered a daughter; her grandchildren, Kailee Stones, Cassie Stones, Jake Stones, Braden Lofquest, Lincoln Moenkhoff, and Layne Moenkhoff; her sister, Mary Ann Day; along with many other relatives and dear friends.
Iris will be laid to rest at Omaha National Cemetery.
Per her wishes, her family will hold a Celebration of Life open house July 16th, 1:00-4:00 at 410 Main Street in Plattsmouth. If you wish, join us in wearing any color of Christmas to celebrate Iris!
