Gregory R. Jones, April 7, 1952 – July 20, 2025
Greg was born to Conrad and Esther Jones on April 7th, 1952 in Omaha, Nebraska, he moved to Los Angeles California in 1980 to pursue a music career, while there playing in numerous clubs and bars and most often at the Palomino Club along side with his long time childhood friend Mike Schwartz (Fuzz aka thunder thumbs), playing under the name of Alias Schwartz and Jones. Greg spent a lot of time in the studio all while he opened up a tile and marble company. During his time in California he had the honor and privilege to met and work with quite a few music legends such as Oak Ridge Boys, Reba McEntire and Bob Dylan, and many more, he also did some of his tile work for Goldie Hawn and Max Baer (aka Jethro). He has said many times that Reba made the absolute best pancakes he ever had.
After moving back to Omaha in 1992 he continued his work with his tile company and bought The Barley Street Tavern in the Benson area where he hosted an open mic night and booked many local bands. Many have said that Greg helped paved their way into the music world. After he sold the bar he continued to do some tile work well after his retirement. He devoted the majority of his time in helping his mother Esther. He was always on the go doing one thing or another and rarely taking time off. Sometimes he was a man of few words but those that knew him have heard his stories and there are a lot of them. Greg will be remembered and missed by many for years to come, he was truly an amazing person beyond measure.
Greg is proceeded in death by father Conrad, brother Allen and many other family members Greg is survived by his mother Esther, sister Linda Anderson, niece Sherry Carr (Glenn), nephew Michael Anderson, Great Nephew James Anderson, Longtime Girlfriend Kandi Goessling her children Josh (molly), Nate (Maureen), Danny plus all the grandchildren. He is also survived by many more family and more friends than anyone could count.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
