LIFE REFLECTIONS

GEORGE ALLEN “BUCKY” COLLINS, JR.

On October 3, 1952, George Sr. and Annie H. Collins welcomed George into their world at their home in Clarksdale, Mississippi. On August 29, 2026, he entered into the Eternal Rest of the Lord.

George confessed and accepted Christ at an early age and was united with the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev, Z. W. Williams upon his family’s transition to Omaha, Nebraska. He attended the Omaha Public School System participating in extracurricular activities such as Jr. ROTC and other community youth sports programs. He is a graduate and proud alumni of the historical Technical High School Trojan Society. Upon graduation he attended Business College and obtained employment with the State of Nebraska’s Department of Roads Division, where he remained employed for over 50years until his retirement.

It was that “Trojan Spirit” and a relentless work ethic that garnered George much success on his job. His work ethic was out of the stratosphere! He received numerous awards for perfect attendance throughout his tenure with the State. He was also awarded “State Employee of the Year” for exemplary service. As a Union Leader, he regularly advocated for equal employment rights on behalf of his fellow employees.

Metaphorically speaking, George was a very colorful and complex man; a “Rubik’s Cube” of a man. His multi-faceted personality lent itself to provide support to so many people in his life. His undeniable presence and strength would leave a permanent impression on everyone he met. He championed life’s challenges with methodical resolution; through sudden and unexpected twists, turns and untimely circumstances. When life started “LIFING” all out of control; he would remain persistent, fervent and effectual; he would reassure everyone that they could rely on him. “Lean on Me” was his consistent battle cry.

Irrespective of his many roles in life, his principles remained steadfast. As Bucky, Junior Buck Rabbit or Buck Eye, he was the apple of his mother’s eyes, and one of the several pillars in her world. He always honored his parents in accordance with Exodus 20:12. Additionally, he protected and guided his younger siblings. He was a mentor to them and other family members. Responsibility in life starts early for older siblings.

Bucky, “BAE” and Doris Ann “Dars-Ann” were teenage sweethearts who remained soulmates for 55 years. Bucky and Dot had a ride or die bond that they were committed to, serving as role models for family and friends. “They Kept it Real” and lived life on their own terms. They were well respected by their family, community and social environments. To their union four children were added, Kaleasa (Kela), George Laron (Valdez), Jahmel Allen (Miggy) and Shanae (deceased). They were also blessed with two bonus children, Zae’lease and Zerenity.

Bucky “Dad” had a world class “George Jefferson Ego” complete with the strut and could make a “Dollar Hollar;” the negro was tight!!! He was a “Baby Boomer” and a good father. He taught his children about the value of money and the importance of taking care of his family. He believed in the Biblical principle “a good man leaves an inheritance to his children and their children,” Proverbs 13:22. He could also get his Goodtimes James Evans on too…you want some “Strap” with that oatmeal!!! He was a strong disciplinarian.

Bucky, “G-Man,” The Brothers Motorcycle Club President, was a bad Mutha, shut yo mouth; a real Mutha for Ya!!! Cleave, Bob and Weave. The Era of “Dusty/Dustola.” It takes a strong and principled woman to keep a man straight and on the right track for 55 years. Dusty’s unconditional love, support, grace, honor and a strong right hook helped Bucky to finish the race with dignity and respect. This is what unconditional LOVE looks like; a blueprint for true love.

George finished the race that all of us have to finish someday. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. George is preceded in death by daughter, Shanae Collins; parents, George Collins Sr. and Annie Grant Smith; brothers, Billy House, Roosevelt Collins and Anthony Collins. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved soul mate, Doris Ann Fulton, Nebraska: children, Kaleasa Basden, Georgia; George Fulton, South Carolina; Jahmel Collins, Nebraska; Zae’lease and Zerenity Dupree, Nebraska: sisters, Eva Veland, Nebraska, Annie Hall (Rick), Virginia; sister in law, Barbara Hill (Ben), Nebraska; grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
