Gene Thomas Stratton Sr. went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 6th in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born on the farm near Weeping Water Nebraska on May 13, 1929. Gene married the love of his life Irene Jacobs on June 25th, 1950. To that union brought 6 children. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad as a Yardmaster of the Omaha Yards. After retirement he enjoyed model trains and was a member of the Nebraska Iowa Model Railroaders Historical Museum Society. He enjoyed making miniatures with his wife Irene and was part of the Omaha Miniature Guild, The Shoebox Bunch, and the Miniature Club of Omaha. He also was longtime member of the Nebraska Mineral and Gem Club. He owned the Family Business Stratton’s Jewelry. Then later Electronic Recyclers. He never knew a stranger and loved to talk to everyone. He is survived by his wife Irene of 71 years; Sons, Gene (Linda) T. Stratton Jr, Wichita, KS; Marlin (Beth) Stratton, Tim (Lisa) Stratton, Matt (Tammy) Stratton all of Omaha. Daughters Juliann (Wilbur) Kinser, Hugoton, KS; Valerie (Casey) Blaine, Edmond, OK. 12 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter. Brothers Ken Stratton, Omaha and Jerry, Edmond, OK. Sisters Allene Case and Marilyn Headly, Lincoln, and Janice Gebhart, Burns Flat, OK. Preceded by Grandson, Jason Stratton, daughter in law Shelly Stratton, Brothers Don and Floyd.
