Gary Earl Evans

Evans, Gary Earl (May 5, 1938 – June 13, 2026)

Gary was born at home in Thurston County on May 5th, 1938. Gary set out on his own at the young age of 14. He did odd jobs to make ends meet before joining the United States Navy at 17. After his stint in the Navy, he returned to Omaha where he eventually met and fell for the love of his life, Charlene “Chuckie” Hoffman.

They were married on May 6th, 1961 and times were tough when they were first starting out. Chuckie stayed home with the kids while Gary worked at OPPD and did odd jobs at night to provide for his family. They would eventually buy their first rental property, committing to each other that their family would always be better off each and every day. They eventually developed multiple rental units but Gary still found time for his passions…hunting, fishing, golf, and of course playing the “hot corner” for his beloved OPPD softball team, The Erasers. He retired in 1993 and spent the remaining years of his life pursuing his passions and spending time with Chuckie, his children, and grandkids whom he loved with all his heart.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife Charlene “Chuckie” Evans; He is survived by his children: Kim Bridenbaugh & husband Mick, Greg Evans, Matt Evans & fiance Michelle Mazini; grandchildren: Madeline, Elizabeth, William, Joseph, Austin, Sara; sister Roberta Hamre; many other relatives and friends.
