Francis Anthony Hathoot (October 5th, 1942 ~ April 27th, 2026)
Frank was born in Monterosso, Calabria, Italy, where he was known by his birth name, Francis Antonio Galati. He was born to Domenico and Filomena Galati and spent his early childhood in the small town of Monterosso. At the age of 10, Frank bravely traveled alone to the United States through Catholic Charities and was adopted by George and Lucille Hathoot in Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha became his lifelong home and the place where he built his family and his legacy. Frank proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Aludra stationed in the South China Seas in the 1960's. On April 8, 1967, he married Joan Klima. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and dedication. Frank owned and operated Pam-Mar Painting and Contracting and took great pride in his work. In retirement, Frank brought his entrepreneurial spirit to life by starting Mama Hoots Salsa Company, which continues to operate today.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Joan Hathoot; his children, Pam Smith (Paul) of Manhattan Beach, California, Mark Hathoot of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jen Rogers (Josh) of Omaha, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Katie Smith, Sadie Rogers, Stella Rogers, and Emma Gentzler (Brad); and his great-granddaughter, Nora Mae Gentzler. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his deep love for his wife, his children, and his grandchildren.
A private burial will take place at the Omaha National Cemetery.
