Francis Joseph Gutchewsky, 74, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Known affectionately to many as Frank, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and storytelling.
Frank was born on December 18, 1951, the youngest of six children to Joseph and Bernice Gutchewsky. He graduated from Paul IV Catholic High School. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Gutchewsky; his mother Bernice (Hafner) Gutchewsky; his loving wife Delorus (Montgomery) Gutchewsky; brothers Jim, Jack, Joe and sister Judy Gutchewsky; granddaughter Whitney Henriquez. He is survived by his sister, Helene Gutchewsky; oldest son Randall Gartin, daughter-in-law Debra and grandsons Christopher, Alexander & Austin Gartin; daughter Kimberly Ruffolo, son-in-law Michael and granddaughter Courtney Minor; youngest son Monty Gartin, daughter-in-law Denise, grandson Ian Gartin and granddaughter Emily (Gartin) Schlepper; and his six beloved great grandchildren.
Frank was a true outdoors enthusiast who found his greatest joy hunting, fishing, and immersing himself in nature. Above all, he was a dedicated family man. Whether it was his immediate kin or his "found family" of coworkers and friends, Frank was always just a phone call or text away for anyone in need. He was a master storyteller with an incredible memory. He loved recounting the "shenanigans" of his youth and sharing funny, cherished moments involving his friends, family, children and grandchildren.
Frank was a man of remarkable dedication, a trait best exemplified by his 30+ year career at ExxonMobil. Over the many decades, he earned the respect of his colleagues through his hard work, generosity, and reliable nature. He was a pillar of support for his coworkers, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh.
Even during his brave battle with cancer, Frank’s spirit never wavered. He remained the "favorite patient," a loyal friend, a devoted father, and the most beloved Papa. His generosity and one-of-a-kind personality made a permanent mark on everyone who knew him. He will remain forever in our hearts.
