A loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend, Florence Moseke passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on October 29, 1938, to Louis and Mildred Smith, Florence grew up with a strong work ethic and a spirited heart. After graduating from high school, she earned her degree from community college and began a successful career as a buyer for a Milwaukee department store. She thrived in the fast-paced world of fashion, particularly enjoying buying trips to New York City—so much so that decades later, she could still recite favorite purchase order numbers by heart.
Her career eventually brought her to Gold’s Department Store in Lincoln, Nebraska, where fate introduced her to the love of her life, Jerry Moseke. They married in August 1963 and celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage in 2023, shortly before Jerry’s passing.
Together, Florence and Jerry built a warm and vibrant home, raising three daughters who were the center of Florence’s world. A devoted stay-at-home mom, she was a tireless volunteer, always present and involved in her daughters’ many activities. Creative and spirited, Florence loved bringing joy to her home—especially during Halloween, where she delighted in crafting costumes which she and Jerry enjoyed donning well into their later years.
Her artistic touch and deep sense of family values left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Florence instilled in her daughters a strong sense of faith, service, and compassion, values she lived out daily in her actions and relationships.
In her later years, Florence turned her nurturing nature toward her beloved dogs, raising several Retrievers and German Shepherds, cherishing their companionship. But her greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother. She and Jerry rarely missed a game, concert, dance recital, musical, choral performance or school event, cheering with pride for their five grandchildren.
Florence is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Moseke, Lynn Woodford (Walter Woodford), and Christina Preuss (Dave Simmons); her grandchildren: Nate Woodford, Nicole Formanek (Derek Formanek), Kiersten Preuss (Zane O’Brien), Kylee Preuss, and Abby Moseke.
She will be remembered for her love of reading, generosity of spirit, her humor, her creativity, and most of all, her unwavering love for her family.
