Florence Matthews 11/1/1938 - 7/21/2020 Florence Matthews was born in Henrietta Texason November 1, 1938 to Evelyna Jones and Robert Brown. In the early 1950's Florence moved to Omaha, NE to raise her children and be close to her sisters Lorraine Brown and Viola Phillips. Being the youngest of 7 children Florence maintained a close relationship with all of her siblings including her brothers Luther, Robert, Charlie Paul, and Jimmy Ray. Briefly married to Lester Matthews, Florence loved her 3 children Michael R. Brown, Debra R. Matthews, Timothy L. Matthews, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, family meant everything to Florence. Florence's favorite past times were going fishing with her sister Viola, having a night on the town with her sister Lorraine, or playing cards with her nieces and grand children. Always present at family barbecues and social events, Florence greeted everyone with a warm smile and a hardy laugh. Florence's devotion to God, and her love for her friends was always welcome, she was known to joyfully offer a kind word, a little encouragement, or advice when needed. Last surviving sibling, and Matriarch of the family, Florence was preceded in death by her son Michael Brown. Florence is Survived by Children: Debra Matthews, and Timothy Matthews, Grand Children: Katina and Allen Duncan, Jerome Matthews, Shirita Matthews, Arnedria Brown, Neosha Brown, and Derick Gallion; Great Grandchildren: J. Dupree Matthews, Allenisha Matthews, Donesha Matthews, Davyon Matthews, Jose Hill, Dajanique Hill, Mikell Matthews, Nizani Matthews, Raniaha Matthews, Keoni Matthews-Gunn; Nieces and Nephews: Barbra Prugh, Evelyn Kennedy, Janice Brown, Tyrone Brown, Algie Ridge, Franklena Durham, and Phyllis Mitchell. And several other family members, or friends who became family members.
