MILES, Evelyn V. (Wedgewood) March 18, 1927 ~ September 11, 2016 After an arduous battle, left this existence on Sunday, September 11, 2016 to start on her next journey. Preceding her in death were her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Winston Miles, Sr., father Roy Wedgewood, mother Mamie “Faye” Wedgewood, sisters Doris Georgeson and Ardith “Ardie” Hennig, brothers Harold “Wedge” Wedgewood and Lyle Wedgewood and son Gerald “Butch” Winston Miles, Jr. Those that were left behind are sisters, Joyce Lewis and Beverly Warren, daughters Denice Ann Clayton (John) of Lawrence, KS, Cheri Lynn Cairncross (Don), Gail Marie Miles, Anita Louise Graham (Gregg) and Sandra June Quinn (Sean) all of Omaha, NE, daughter-in-law, Carol Vickroy of Omaha, NE. Evelyn’s legacy continues in the lives of twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Never forgotten are her many beloved nieces and nephews.Evelyn, during her life was such a devoted mother that she gathered several honorary children, the number of whom is too great to list. Evelyn wanted to be a pilot, but was strongly discouraged from joining the military.She worked for many years in Omaha for McKesson & Robbins, then at Hinky Dinky.It was at Hinky Dinky where she met her husband of thirty-one years, Gerald “Jerry” Winston Miles, Sr. Per Evelyn’s request there will be no traditional funeral services.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
