Eugene “Bing” Kobler passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2026. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Theresa and Claude Kobler and grew up on the family farm in Sarpy County alongside his brother, George, and sister, Janice.
Bing attended Louisville High School, graduating in 1956. Following graduation, he began working for Ash Grove Cement Company, where he remained until his retirement in 2000.
In 1959, he married Myrna Van Horn, and together they raised their four daughters—Teresa, Bobbi, Jean, and Karen—in South Bend, Nebraska. Bing was a devoted father who supported his girls in all their activities, from horse showing to sports.
In 1999, he married Bernice Schneider. The two spent many joyful years traveling across the Midwest attending polka dances and visiting friends. Bing was never shy about letting everyone know he had the best dance partner on the floor.
He also cherished time spent riding his motorcycle with his daughters Jean and Teresa, enjoying long days on the open road together.
Bing is survived by his sister, Janice McGee; his children, Teresa (Gary) Piersol, Jean (Jake) Jacobson, and Karen (Bill) Wunderlich; and his stepchildren, Carol (Tom) Mueller, Brad (Cris) Glawe, and Gene (Sheri) Glawe. He is also survived by his grandchildren—Jenifer Sorric, Andrew Paulsen, Crystal Bye, Phillip Jordan, Chelsea Brown, Cassie Baburek, Colton Wunderlich, and Erin Wunderlich—as well as many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Theresa Kobler; brother, George Kobler; daughter, Bobbi Hager; wife, Bernice Kobler; and dear friend, Myrna Skinner.
