GUSTAFSON, Doyle D. April 9, 1927 - June 28, 2017 Dr. Doyle D. Gustafson passed away peacefully on June 28 at home with his family. Doyle was born in Polk, Nebraska and was the son of Rudolph and Alma Gustafson. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Louise Johnson Gustafson, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, his five children: Dan Gustafson (Jennifer) of Omaha, Nebraska, Chris Butler (John) of Houston, Texas, Becky Kerns (Steve) of Houston, Texas, Deb Carlson (Paul) of Richfield, Minnesota and Elise Pavelka (Lee) of Wichita, Kansas, 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only sibling, Irene Weimer of Lincoln, Nebraska. Dr. Gustafson served in the Army Medical Corps after World War II, attended York College and the University of Nebraska Dental School and enjoyed practicing dentistry in Benson and West Omaha for over 60 years. He and Dorothy raised their five children, attended and served at their churches, Bethany Baptist and most recently Christ Community. Dr. Gustafson was a lifelong learner, interested in all people and a compassionate caregiver to Dorothy, the love of his life and best friend. Doyle served the Lord and loved people.
