DONALD ROBERT SCHWEIGER

Donald R. Schweiger, 86, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in his home on August 30, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born at home, on April 23, 1940, to his parents John and Pauline, he was raised in South Omaha, Nebraska. He was the youngest of three children alongside John and Rose Mary.

He graduated from South High in 1958 prior to becoming a proud United States Army veteran. Don served his country with honor as a weapons specialist, and then continued in the Army Reserve.

Don married Donna Hinkle in 1960. The two shared a daughter, Deb, who was born in 1970. In 1974, along came neighbor Joe Golden who quickly became part of the family. Don and Joe formed a once in a lifetime connection that still holds strong to this day.

Don went on to build a successful career with the Federal Reserve Bank, where he worked for 30 years, working up to and retiring as an Assistant Cash Manager. Reflective of his humorous personality, Don was known as Batman, with his Batmobile (70’s Mercury), and his sidekick Robin (Terry). The duo caused disruptions in the weekly meetings, and made a lifelong friendship of jokes and memories.

Don married the love of his life, Jeri, on December 28th, 1984. Don and Jeri merged their families with children Deb and Allen. Following Don’s retirement, they moved to Prescott, Arizona, in 1999. Shortly after, they followed Deb to Scottsdale in 2001. Finally, their last move was to settle back in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2021.

He was known to many simply as “Pops” or “Babe”—a testament to the deep affection and respect he inspired to his family and close friends. One of his favorite hobbies was to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle alongside Deb and her step-father Gary. The three musketeers had several adventures in Arizona and Colorado. Pops was known for his great sense of humor and his witty one-liners. As a lifelong Huskers football fan, it became a family tradition to cheer on Big Red together.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeri, his daughter Deb Sedlak of Scottsdale, Arizona, grandchildren Brandi and Tommy, and son Allen Clark and daughter-in-law Karen of Omaha, Nebraska, grandchildren Sarah and Nathan. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Pauline, siblings John and Rose Mary.

VISITATION: Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 5-7:00pm at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel)

FUNERAL MASS: Friday, September 4, 2026 at 10:00am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church (11802 Pacific St.)
