Dolores A. Ricchini
January 16, 1939 – June 1, 2026
With grateful hearts and confidence in God's promises, we celebrate the life of Dolores A. (Sommer) Ricchini, who entered into the presence of her Lord at the age of 87. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 16, 1939, to Richard G. Sommer and Mary R. (McKaig) Sommer, Dolores lived a life marked by unwavering faith, servant leadership, and a deep love for family and friends. A graduate of West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School, Dolores began her working life as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone while still a student. She later attended Saint Joseph's University and went on to build a career dedicated to helping others, serving first as a legal secretary and later as a fifth-grade teacher. Whether in the classroom, the workplace, or her daily interactions, she touched countless lives through her kindness, patience, wisdom, and encouragement. Her greatest passion was her relationship with Jesus Christ. Dolores faithfully served as a worship leader for more than 35 years and was actively involved in Women's Aglow Ministries, where she inspired others through her joyful spirit, heartfelt worship, and steadfast trust in God. Her faith was not merely something she professed; it was evident.
in the way she lived, loved, served, and encouraged everyone around her. Dolores shared a loving marriage with her husband, John A. Ricchini, until his passing in 1987. Though she spent nearly four decades without her beloved John by her side, she continued to live with remarkable strength, grace, and purpose. Through every season of life, she remained devoted to her family, her faith, and her calling to serve others. Above all else, Dolores treasured her family. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Fromm; her children, Joseph Ricchini (Connie), Mary Ricchini, Christopher Ricchini (Ann), and Matthew Ricchini (Lisa); 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in each of them through the values she taught, the faith she modeled, and the unconditional love she shared so freely. Those who knew Dolores will remember her warm smile, her servant's heart, her unwavering faith, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. While her family will miss her deeply, they rejoice in the assurance that she has been welcomed into her eternal home and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 10:30 am, at Life Church, 20710 Gold Circle, Elkhorn, Nebraska. Lunch and fellowship will follow at The Waterford, 18881 West Dodge Road, Elkhorn, Nebraska.
In lieu of mourning, Dolores would want us to celebrate God's faithfulness, cherish our families, and live each day with the same faith, hope, and love that she demonstrated throughout her remarkable life.
